Just an FYI.

Centex is owned by Pulte Group which also owns Pulte Homes and Del Webb. It is the Nations largest new home builder bar none.

For many years Pulte was a JD power top award earner in almost all categories relating to new home building. However its quality and customer has suffered as of late in the Central Valley. M ny of these changes occurred after Pulte bought out Centex in early 2009. If you will notice Pulte Homes no longer has a presence in the central valley, just Centex and Del Webb.

You could do worse than Centex but you could also do better. If it were me the only Pulte/ Centex home I would buy would be a pre 2009 built home.

I have direct experience being a current certified PulteGroup contractor.
You may be asking your self why is this guy biting the hand that feeds it. Well lets just say I have seen a huge degradation in building practices since Centex exclusively took over the construction of new homes in the Central Valley in 2009 outside of the Senior active adult living communities of Del Webb.

YMMV.......

I've owned a JMC and Centex home and I'd say the quality and customer service is better with Centex. I've only had a few minor issues. It also depends on what foreman you are dealing with too. If this is a new home and you are going through Pulte mortgage be prepared for a lot of headaches. I did a bit of research after I started dealing with them and it turns out that issues with them seem to be common.
