I may be moving to Sacramento to go to graduate school at UCD next year. I am now searching for apts and cheap houses for I am only a year out of my undergrad. I would like to know any advice that you may have for me regarding what areas are safe and what areas are not for living. As I am a female and will be living alone.

Either live in Davis itself or Downtown/Midtown (anywhere in the central city grid). Look on craigslist to get a feel of price:quality. The region as a whole is hurting for jobs so It'll probably be rough finding something quickly.

What is there to do in sac? I live in charlotte but my hometown is like an hour from the beach! Im looking for an experience being that I am moving from the east coast to the west coast (nearly 3000miles from home). Davis is pretty small does the school make up the city primarily?

Haven't lived in the Sac area for a while, but when I did I enjoyed getting into the outdoors. Did a lot with the Sierra Club (and, back in my single days, Sierra Club Singles). There is a Hash House Harriers group (running, walking, beer drinking) group. Lots of historical and theater groups. Bicycling, kayaking, rafting. I also volunteered for the SPCA.

What do you like to do? For both urban and outdoorsy people, the Sac area has a lot to offer.
For a young girl like yourself, I would definitely suggest finding a place in Midtown, East Sac or Land Park. They are nice established neighborhoods close to hip places.
There are a good number of nightlife places to hit up. Great restaurants. Just a hop away from the foothills and Sierras. Several big casinos in the metro area. Lots to do.

I am currently just starting boxing and hopefully before the end of the year acting. I like to do extra activites not really a night life person unless im hanging with friends.

Your best bet might be to stick in the city of Davis--it's a very compact, college-oriented (about a third of the people living there are students) community. If you like biking you'll be in heaven--they have excellent bike infrastructure. Midtown Sacramento is nice but why commute ten miles if you don't have to?
