I've used AT&T wireless for years, service is fine and it works all over the USA, even in Alaska. I cant recall any dropped calls anywhere.
I cant comment on any of the no-name, cheapo companies, never used them.

I have had them all and Verizon gives me the best signal thru out the state.
I work in buildings where my old phones could not connect. I know have a signal where many do not.

I've decided to go with AT&T. Too many people in my life have it, including the fiance who's long-distance. Surveying a few people near me, they seem to get good signal reception and no dropped calls. Just to be on the safe side, I'm going to get a land line also. . Haven't had a regular phone in 9 years, but in Land Park it seems it's a must! Maybe it's the forest of trees who knows...

Peace and thanks again for your help and comments.
Good choice. AT&T is probably the cheapest if you use the family plan for multiple phones on the same plan. (I have done extensive research and think they are all over-priced, but At&T seems to be the cheapest).

Because of the roll-over minutes deal, you can just about get the cheapest plan, minute-wise and then the roll-over minutes and the free minutes for other AT&T phones will take care of your usage.

We have four iphones in the family and also use the data plan extensively.

BTW, I haven't had a land line in over 10 years and have never missed it.

Any provider's Web site should have a map showing coverage areas. I know of no provider that has service absolutely everywhere, but that's not your concern. We did a lot of traveling recently, using an AT&T service (paid in advance), and the one place where we had no coverage as outside Brevard, North Carolina. Not a worry for you.
