I would help the Kings pack. We do not need a NBA team in Sacramento unless it pays its own way 100%.

In fact, I was in Seattle last weekend and earlier this week, and I would tell people that I was from SMF and get an earful of the whole Kings saga. The locals are convinced up there that David Stern hates Seattle and will do everything he can to never let Seattle have a NBA team again...

Seattle deposited money quite a while ago...and not only have they upped the offer, they are offering the NBA $115 million as a relocation fee. Plus, the Maloofs say they will refuse to sell to the Sacramento group--and if they can't relocate, they will sell 20% of the team to Hansen and maintain control of the team. Which means the Kings would stay in Sacramento, but no new arena, and we have to see their faces on the local news for another couple of years until they finish selling the team to Hansen. Plus we'll have to replay this reality-show drama nonsense in a year or two.

Ultimately, this bidding war is good for the NBA. Its really whether Stern can stomach his supposed hate of Seattle... or if this whole dance was the plan all along... they were gone to Seattle long ago.

No matter what happens, this thing is going to be tied in legal knots if the NBA has them stay, people will be suing left and right - a protracted battle isn't good for the NBA at all.

At this point, I honestly believe the whole area would be far better off with the Kings gone. The Maloofs are showing what they've been about all along, which is getting as much for themselves as they possibly can.

It makes a lot more sense to get an expansion team that is wholly owned down here by people that live here and want to stay here...

I'm not so sure David Stern and Adam Silver are going to let this play out the way the Maloof's propose.

Neither are inclined to be passive nor timid, if you've followed the last round of player negotiations.

No, but they are inclined to make a decision based on who can toss the NBA's salad with the most enthusiasm. That is largely based on the size of the pile of money dumped in front of the Commission, and Seattle's money pile looks plenty big at this point.

You think they didn't know that 2 weeks ago when the NBA Rwlocation committee voted unanimously 7-0 AGAINST relocation to Seattle? Do you think this increased offer is anything more than a blatant bribe on Seattle's part as a desperate effort to sway influence in their favor? Do you really think Stern didn't see this coming? This changes nothing. Have fun grasping onto every desperate Seattle ploy to take the team away though, sounds like you guys are having a good time with it.

It is kind of entertaining, yeah. And what makes you think the Relocation Committee's decision is based on anything but "Sacramento's bribe is bigger"?

CBS Sports Ken Burger thinks that the Maloof's idea will be rejected:

So this whole thing is a non-starter. The owners on the relocation committee can't change their minds, unless they want to sign off publicly on accepting a bribe. How transparently greedy would that be?

The owners can't sign off on the team staying in Sacramento with minority owners who are determined to move it against the NBA's wishes -- minority owners who obviously have the wherewithal to become majority owners with one wire transfer.

I'm not quite sure how it's a "hostile takeover" if the owners of the team want to sell to Seattle.
