CityGirl - awesome, thanks for those links! The last 2 were deleted, but now that I know where in Midtown to look, I will. Thanks again
![]() 18Montclair - If I could afford a safe place in the Bay Area I'd move there in a heart beat, but SF is much too expensive for me right now. Can anyone tell me some of the cons of Sacramento? I know a lot of the pros, mainly being a place in CA I can afford is the biggest thing for me. But what about crime and etc? My perception of 'ghetto' may not be the same as everyone elses coming from Miami (lived close to Overtown for a couple of years). I went to some parts of Phoenix that were described to me as ghetto and I thought they were fine. In comparison to Miami or L.A., how 'bad' is it there? And how's the job market? I'm a pet groomer. Theres plenty of jobs in Phoenix from what I've seen, but havent found so many ads for the Sacramento area. |

hey miami girl...
Cons of sacramento? -big small town. grew fast recently and isn't much of a "city" because of that, and slow to move beyond the small town mentality. so like i said before...kinda boring.. -hot summers, i'm guessing temp wise it's very similar to miami but without the humidity...so maybe not a con? -sh*tty roads/freeways and fairly congested with traffic (where isnt?) (potholes, stupid a$s car pool lanes, etc..) -annoying politics, that's california in general, luckily sacramento is more middle of the road when it comes to the people, but it is the capital so all the evil of the california gov't starts here.. ![]() hmmm... can't think of too many specific cons of this town, just that it's not "the place" to be. I think it's nice enough and conveniently located to some nice places, it's just the city itself is just kinda..."eh". ghetto areas.... I wouldnt worry about it, stay out of them and there's not much to worry about. Also, I dunno what other people are talking about but the Arden mall and Arden area are not ghetto...ha, some of the areas in Arden-Arcade are the nicest in the city! And the mall is fine, never felt any reason not to go there and never felt is was a "ghetto" mall. Anyway, there are two serious "ghettos" in Sacramento, stay out of them are you're fine. There are a handful of other areas that I wouldnt live either, but again, stay away and live somewhere else and who cares? No, they are not really anything compared to LA hoods, but then what is? Never been to Miami so i have no idea. Pet grooming jobs? Sorry, don't have a clue! alrighty miami girl, hope that helps some more ![]() Timmay |

I didn't say Arden was Ghetto - I said the Ghetto teenagers from SouthSac/ Florin Road are now spending their time at Arden Fair

CityGirl - Ok so there's teenagers at the mall...shocking! Big deal. ![]() Seriously, have you ever been robbed, assaulted, shot, hassled, etc. etc. from one of these south area teenagers? I doubt it... |

Eastern at Arden is not that bad because it's farther from the mall and closer to the Arden Arcade area (where there is a feeder Middle school that is outstanding)

If I wasn't mistaken the original poster said Phoenix was 5 hours from the Ocean.
Phoenix is more like 7 hours from the Pacific ocean. Yeah I'm sure five hours if you want to drive to Baja Mexico which is obviously Mexico, but not the pacific ocean. You definently want to choose California over Arizona. You will fry in Arizona like an egg on the asphalt. California is much cooler even if it's 95 degrees in some areas, compared to the Phoenix mid 100's. The 10 degrees is a humongous difference! Arizona heat will hit you like a wall, even if you are from humid Miami. |

Sacramento for the win. I lived in Miami from 1985-1995, but I grew tired of it. Moved to Sac in 2004 (from Virginia) and I've loved it ever since. The weather isn't a factor for me at all. At least when I sweat it can dry soon after!
My g/f's family considered Phoenix last year. They visited for 2 days and turned right back lol I'm staying put. Like previously stated, only a couple hours drive from great locations! |
