Try to find a house in the Brookside Community, preferably St. Andrew's drive or the Point. This area is west Stockton but it's the nicest area in Stockton.

Stockton is a diversified shock to many people, it's better to visit and look around a few times before making a big decision to come here, getting to know the people and what there is to do around town is best before finding yourself stuck around snobby neighbors or people who don't care about others. Boredom is never good for any one of any age, so yeah I do highly suggest getting to know a town before moving permanently. But if your family loves the bay too much, try Dublin, you can always ride the bart back to the bay.

Stockton is bad. It's uncomfortable to live in, you'd see for yourself if you came here. Lodi is close by and is pretty nice, try there instead. Just avoid Stockton!

I agree that Spanos Park is a good place to live. Stockton has bad neighborhoods that you would not want to drive into, but also some great things as well. People learn where to go and where not to go and they're fine.
