Very misused around here. Hell, I've been told Rosemont is "ghetto". You don't know what real ghetto is until you've visited say Detroit or Camden, NJ.

Born in sacramento, 45 year resident.
I don't think many here understand what "ghetto" is. My grandma and extended family lived in south sacramento. 47th ave and hwy 99. THAT is ghetto. I would spend the night at my grandma's house and regularly go to sleep to the sound of automatic gunfire and police helicopters. Parts of Oak Park are still ghetto. Areas of Del Paso are ghetto. Parts of Elk Grove and Natomas are "run down". Far from ghetto.

When your neighborhood high schools (Burbank HS) nickname is "blood bank" THAT is ghetto. Folsom and Rocklin are not considered ghetto but I have seen more drug use and promiscuity at folsom and rocklin high schools than I ever saw in the south area. Every area in every city has their problems.

True! Until I see gang members throwing gang signs at every corner of Elk Grove. Drive by shootings every other day. 3-8 people dying on a weekend due to gang violence. It sure isn't ghetto.
