Default Best Neighborhood For a Family

Just wondering what the best area for a family is. I could spend up to 1 mil but would prefer less. I'm looking at different places in the country because I may move. Everything is so expensive down here in LA.

I like areas with their own private downtowns and restaurants and ones that get really into holidays such as Halloween, Christmas, maybe Chanukah (I'm Jewish), New Years, and 4th of July. Are there any areas with lots of Jewish people. Don't need the super serious Jews, just somewhere I can have a choice in which temple I'd like to be a member of.

Thanks for your help.
Jesse

Well, with that money, you can go anywhere in the Sac area.

-Davis is a great little town. They keep it little on purpose. It is much different that the rest of the cities I'm about to list because it is older, has a lot of personality, and is a university city.

-Roseville, and better yet, Granite Bay are where the people with money live. I think some Kings players live in Granite Bay also. Granite Bay is near Folsom lake.

-Folsom and El Dorado Hills are just like Roseville and Granite Bay. Both can have views of Folsom Lake.

-Auburn is further East and in in the hills. It is gorgeous and actually has 4 seasons! If you love nature, go there.

I'm sure there are more people on this forum that can help even more, but these are the main areas they'll list.

Well since we are talking with people with money ...

Lands Park $1million will get you a great 3000 sq ft home
on or near the park.

$1million dollars will get you into the fabulous 40's east
sac neighborhood (where the really rich and politically
connected people live)

Davis is nice, but I personally feel the above two are more
classier.

You may want to look into Nevada City. You would love the downtown. It is just barely in the mountains, and you could buy a beautiful home with some land and a view. It is absolutely georgous and you are only less than an hour from Sacramento, and a little over an hour to Nevada. It is beautiful. Great schools, very safe. Good luck.

I know the temperatures change a lot more than they do down here, and I don't want too much snow. What areas get just a small flurry of snow maybe once or twice a year.

Nevada City looks beautiful and the downtown does look very nice, but I don't know if it's for me. It seems as though it would get a lot of snow...is that true? And also, I don't think I would fit in too well into these mountain cities...I'm an extremely liberal Jew.
