Default Good Areas of Antelope?

Well, I'd love to buy in Roseville, but it's a bit out of our price right now. My hubby and I don't want to put every penny from both incomes into a house. So, how about Antelope? I've seen several houses for sale under 300K. The "several houses" part scares me in itself because it is showing instability. But is it safe?

I'm mostly looking at the houses that are in the Dry Creek District for school. The area is North of Antelope Rd, South of PFE, East of Walerga, and West of Cook Riolo.

Any thoughts, good or bad are welcome. Thanks!

I live in Antelope near the placer county line near PFE road. Very nice neighborhood. Only problem is all the houses look the same lol
The only parts of antelope that might be a problem is where it is across from north highlands, other than that antelope is a pretty safe community.

Antelope is extremely dodgy as it's near North Highlands (the 'hood). The area near PFE is relatively nice as is the area near Baseline and Cook Riolo-a little sparsly populated though-not many homes FWIR. At Cook and PFE I remember there being a big nasty mobile home park (Sabre City I think) Here's the problem with Antelope. You can be very far from the freeway and traffic can be horrendous, land was cheap a long time ago so lots of high density apartments were built out there and now they are run down havens for many of the young, old, uneducated, destitute, and morally corrupt citizens of the area. Let's put it this way, when I first moved from my parents house I moved to Antelope. Why? Because it's the only place starving college kids can afford in the north end of the county. The other issue affecting Antelope is the large proportion of Russian and Ukranian immigrants. If you don't have a problem living next to three families in one house and chopped up cars lining the streets you'll love Antelope. As for schools, I wouldn't put my kid in the Dry Creek School Dist., but that's just me. We moved to Folsom because of their schools.

If you do want to live out there stay away from any street near the Don Julio Blvd, Elkhorn Blvd and Walerga Rd area. Better yet, just don't move to Antelope.

Is there any particular reason why you're looking out there aside from not being able to afford Roseville? Are you trying to stay near I-80?

Oh, how nice! I am Russian/Ukrainian, live in the Antelope area but it is only our family living in the house. I also am not in the business of selling/working on cars. However, in the house next to me lives 3 families of Mexicans, and they have at least 10 cars so there is nowhere to park on our court for anyone else. However, I don't make any arrogant generalizations about all Mexicans. Broad-brushing Russians and Ukrainians does NOT help this topic and it certainly doesn't give you any credit.

So, you're Russian and you live in Antelope? Thanks for your response I think you just proved my point.

But good for you that you are a one family house, you seem to be in the minority when it comes to the Antelope area. I didn't say there was anything wrong with living in a house with multiple families I was simply alluding to the fact that many American's find that sort of neighbor unfavorable (not Russian's per se, but the many families living in one house).

It's not an arrogant generalization when what you state is fact. It is a fact that Antelope is a place where many families go to live in one house as you pointed out with your Mexican neighbors. When I lived in Antelope 10+ years ago Russians were the ones that generally lived in one house. Obviously it's changed with the ever expanding presence of Mexicans in the U.S. But whether the multi family house is Russian or Mexican is not the issue. The issue is that Antelope has a lot of what should be single family homes being occupied by many families.

Also, let's not pretend that males in the Slavic community aren't in love with their Acura's and Honda's and that many of them don't particiapte in some form of illegal chop-shop type activity. Again, it is a fact that Russian's have a lot to do with chopping up cars in the Sacto area. It's not just a coincidence that Acura's and Honda's are the two most stolen vehicles in Sacto, nor is it a coincidence that Slavic males drive-almost exclusively- Acura's and Honda's, is it.

I know it doesn't sound nice but I too have had problems with the russian population. The men tend to be mean and aggresive and many of the women are not friendly. They are fanatically religious to the point that a kid in the dry creek school district can't even celebrate halloween. My child was in the dry creek schools and I was not very happy with them. Once they left my kindergartener outside and didn't notice she was gone, then they wanted to flunk her for not reading well enough. Now... a second grader in another very good school district she is at the top of the reading groups. In addition to that my child was one of four in the clas that spoke english fluently. I'm sorry but.. gosh don't buy a house.. rent... or move to someplace like Davis or Auburn for affordability. The commute is well worth it and... if at all possible stay away from the sacramento area it is horrible. The pollution is often absolutely unbearable. The schools don't let the children play outside sometimes because it's so bad. The crime is worse then they say. The general populations education level seems to be rather dismal. The police are never around when you need them but food is cheap at winco even if the store is really dirty. Watch out for those spare the air days. "allergies" seem to be everyones problem and no one seems to see that the air they are breathing is making them sick.

Russians? hahahahah
lol
I semi agree. Im not bagging on Russians or anything, as I have friends that are Ukranian and Russian. However I agree the population or Russians in Antelope is being pushed quite a bit. I think along with Russians here in Antelope there is quite a few Hindu people here too. Not a real bad thing though.

The school's are alright, not as bad as everyone is making them seem. They are building a high school in Antelope by the elverta/palmerson intersection.

There is very few appealing shops and resteraunts in Antelope. It is mostly just fast food, grocery stores, and gas stations. Most people would want to go to Roseville or somewhere out of Antelope to shop, cause there isn't many places to shop, besides at the walerga/elverta intersection.

As a post above says, there is quite a large amount of people living in the Antelope area. However it isnt really a problem. Also someone said something about crime. There is some crime in Antelope but it dosent even to compare to other areas of Sac, such as North Highlands, Del Paso Heights, and Oak Park. The only parts that might be more of an issue is the area by Walerega and Antelope and Antelope and Watt, just cause it is right by North Highlands which has worse issues. Even so, in Antelope you need to still be careful. There are quite a few burgalaries. I have heard or seen encounters at night with shady figures in Antelope. My friend got beat up and mugged while walking home at late night at former Park Of Dreams, by Elverta and Palmerson. I have also heard some gunshots at night. And at my friend's apartments here in Antelope, there were people in the parking lot threatening kids with weapons at night. But it depends mostly on what part of Antelope you live in.
The neighborhood near the Placer County Line and PFE road is very nice. The other side of Antelope is a little bit more shady.

I have lived in Antelope for a very long time, and I would say that it is a fairly safe place to live in. I think the only problem is for me at least, antelope is boring lol

Default Heres da deal

Ok hears the deal folks. You guys are talking about safe right? Well im a teenager that has lived in antelope for 11 years. People call me and my friends hoodlems or gangbangers just because of the way we dress. All of these stories im about to tell you , your probably thinking "Oh well you asked for it" So thats how we are stereotyped in Antelope. Anyways you guys are talkin bout safe? Yeah it is. But only what part. I used to live in the "ghetto" as u could call it part down by CENTER HIGHSCHOOL. Just recently there was a drive-by shooting at the winterball. Yeah i heard a few gunshots here and there. But its nothing like Del Paso Heights or North Highlands. Sum stories livin over there is you better watch your kids cause when i was growing up i was chased by some punk teenagers who thought it would be funny picking on a group of 8 year olds riding to the Antelope Market. Pshhh scared me to death running from them. Then i moved to the rich neighborhood. The Palmerson and Poker Lane neighborhoods. You would think since their semi-new they would be calm and quiet? No crime at all? Hahahah. Just last week me and my 2 buddies were mindin our own buisness walkin down the street at night when a car full of (RUSSIANS!!) pulled up and threw a ball at us and called us FAGS! So we picked up the ball and walked the other way.Well the RUSSIANS decided they wanted their ball back. So they chased us to the park. About six 17 to 19 years old russians hop out of the car. I really thought they were going to jump us but we threw the ball at their car and ran.

Also there is sum gang activity in Antelope. If you go to the local parks like Loan Oak park or Firestone you will see graffity on the play structures. The graffity has tag names or it has gang names. Such as X4 or XIV.

But above all Antelope is pretty safe for being next to North Highlands and DPH

Default Antelope Has Gone Downhill

When we moved to Antelope when I was 5 (1989), there were only two other housing developments around, no strip malls, very little traffic, and everyone knew each other. It was typical, beautiful suburbia. Unfortunately, as more and more people moved from the bay to the Sacramento area, Antelope has become the new North Highlands. Since it is one of the more "affordable" suburbs in Sacramento (in comparison to Roseville, Rocklin, Elk Grove, Natomas, etc), there is an influx of immigrant families and blue collar workers to the neighborhood. Oh, and there will be 2 or 3 families living in one home too. For example, there are 7 Ukrainians that live in the 3 bedroom house across the street from my parents house. And all of their cars line the street...when I was growing up, you would never see this. It makes our street look ugly and unattractive.

If you are looking for a nice place in Antelope, try the new homes built by Antelope Crossing Middle School or head closer to the Roseville area. And honestly, if you have issues with immigration (I'm just giving a fair warning here, not trying to bash people), then stay away from Antelope. Immigrants are taking over the area, seriously. I am trying to convince my parents to sell the house (since they are retired) and move into a nice one story in Lincoln or Loomis.
