So last year we were sold on the idea of Jacksonville, FL due to a stellar visit to Ameila Island and the likelihood of a job transfer for hubby. Well the transfer didn't happened and that closed door plus some additional research led us to believe that maybe Jax wasn't for us after all. Once we opened ourselves up to other options we got excited again. So excited that we will do everything we can to relo even if it means renting a house and finding new jobs versus selling our home and waiting on a job transfer.

So we have set our sights on Sacramento

I've been doing the research, peeking and rentals and reading pages of reviews and commentary here at CD

So I just want to share my excitement and gratitude and I thank you all, even the crass folks, for your honest feedback and transparent sharing. We are so ready to call Sac home and start building community.
Might even drive over in March to get a better idea about neighborhoods.

You'll enjoy it. Besides the bad politics, it is a great area. There's plenty of outdoor activities, good nightlife and very decent food places.

Hoping to settle in a very community oriented area.

"Bad politics"? I suppose that's subject to interpretation.

Not really. The minority might find them ok in California, but the majority of people do not agree with what the politicians are doing to this state.

[citation needed]

According to this, a very narrow majority disapprove of the job legislators are doing (51%), but a majority approve of the job Brown is doing (57%). Gov. Brown's approval rating up in poll - SFGate

Meanwhile, both of those numbers are far above their analogues in national office, in both parties. I have my own beefs with California and the way it does business, but broad brush claims don't really help anyone.

Why am I feeling like Sacramento's winters are still too cold?!?!?!
Like maybe I will be better of in San Diego or LA but gee who can afford those places?
