No one warned me before I moved here three years ago. At first I was really happy and recommending it to et everyone. But I'm single and boy did I move to the wrong place!

Its a bunch of wealthy retired couples here who are all settled in and they have their every need catered to. Sure, there are some poor people and they all shop at Grocery Outlet, but the norm is a wealthy retired couple and no sidewalks to walk your dog on. Its terrible for singles! The only men to date are registered sex offenders because its CHEAP RENT here.

Its also very church-y. Everyone goes to church and if you are not a christian, you are screwed here. There's no secular life at all.

But the worst part of all is that the CULT 7th Day Adventist hospital owns every medical service there is (except for a very few, but they all work out of the same hospital). Its a crappy hospital and they love to terminate patients at the Health Center so that the patient will leave town if secular. (They ask you what religion you are, and if you don't say a christian religion, they'll **** with you until you are miserable and you move out).

Also, the health center has all phoney doctors; just nurses and they don't know anything but simple first aid. I had a thyroid problem and my phoney doctor prescribed apples for it. I'm not kidding. She told me to go home and buy a bag of apples, and then my blood test proved what was wrong and she still didn't believe it.

Been here 3 years and I'm getting the hell out of here. Its beautiful, but its also extremely HOT in the summer. Not much cooler than Chico or Oroville. Maybe a few degrees cooler. I don't know how the pines survive.

Its beautiful here but everything I wrote about it is true. No one even thinks about this town unless they are looking to retire. Its 12 miles uphill from Chico.

I dont believe that Paradise is as bad as you say. Its clear that it is not a fit for you, but it could be fine for someone else. And I have to disagree with your concerning SDA hospitals; they are excellent.

Hope you find another home that is more suitable.

How is the access to nature, are there any interesting hiking trails leading out of town? Do people still pan for gold in the creeks?

I can understand why you are not happy with Paradise, yes, it is a retirement haven plus very popular with some families but certainly not a place, a single young person would want to call home. Of course most singles, in Paradise, like you, are not young. That being said, I don't know what your experience has been with the doctors, but you are way, way, way off base. They have some great doctors and a lot of nurse practitioners (which are not nurses) and they retirees are not all wealthy. The town is not run by the 7 Day Adventists by any means. You know, your post sounds exactly like one about a year ago: I have to wonder if it is you who posted the same crap last year? In fact you did post something similar last year about this time. I think you have a problem with 7 Day Adventist as much as you have a problem with Paradise. I would think you would consider moving to a place that better fits your life style. Good luck...

7th Day Adventist have their own views.
My friend was married in one of their churches. A hour into prep they were upset saying we were doing drugs and drinking in the mens prep area. The groom had a aspirin for a headache and we had a 6 pack of Pepsi.
7th Day do not approve of caffeine, fish without scales. They are kind of Hebrew extremists with out the Jewish over tones.
