Anyone in the Elk Grove, CA area care to share. I'm looking into possibly getting an inground pool installed. My biggest concern is the increase to my utilities. Would anyone care to share what their costs are in theirs? Also how often do you run your pumps? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Pools add utilities and chemicals to your bills. Pumps run daily, longer in the summer than the winter. The newer, more efficient pumps only need a few hours per day. Your electric bill will go up a bit. Your water bill will definitely go up. If you keep it covered, it prevents evaporation and you have to add much less water to keep it full. Our water is very expensive in El Dorado Hills so I don't want to compare to Elk Grove.

Before making a decision, call your water company to make sure there are not any restrictions on building new pools and filling them.

I wish like crazy our pool was rectangular so we could easily cover and uncover it. Major pain to do with a curvy pool.
