Default Thinking of moving to Sacramento area

Hi everyone I have been offered a job in Sacramento up by the Arco arena but I know nothing about the area. I am looking for a home in the 3500sq foot range with in a 30 minute drive to the arena area. I have a top end range of around $600,000. I would like a few acres but after looking on the internet land (around 5 acres) does not look like it is available in the $150,000area. I would appreciate any advise as far which areas to look and how the traffic is for that commute.

thanks in advance

Most places in Sacramento are just houses and you will get lucky if you get a decent size front and backyard.

If you want acres of land, go up to the hills. Try Roseville, Lincoln, Auburn, etc.
Those area tend to have more room to spare but commute will probably take a while, especially when you hit traffic.

Try looking into Woodland or north of Woodland. You can buy a bunch of land and a house for maybe what you're looking for. I don't know about a big house and that much land, but that is probably your best bet. The traffic will be minimal since you'll be on I5 before it turns into the downtown mess.

So look in Woodland, Esparto, and even Dixon (West of Davis).

Good luck.

I agree with Volleyballer about Woodland if you want quick access to a "medium" sized town and services. If you prefer a little more rural, look at small towns such as Wheatland and Elverta. You can still get small acreage and your commute will be excellent.

Sacrament's real estate is still over valued. Wait for it to fall more if u'r buying. It's very crowded there and lots of winter rain. Nice mellow airport.
