The air quality in Sacramento has been GOOD ALL day. It's in the GOOD RANGE right now - 41.

That fire has not affected Sacramento's air quality. It could; however, later tonight tomorrow who knows.

And it may not. But that's what was being reported on the news. And we know they are always right.

The wind stops on hitting these hilltops in Folsom (eg Carpeter hill) and EDH (eg Kalithea park). The homes on the lower elevations in Folsom and EDH are hence considerably warmer. Also, the farther away you are from the American river, the less wind you get! That is why, Roseville and Rocklin are typically warmer than Folsom and EDH. Sac proper is the coolest due to direct breeze, two rivers and the canopy of trees in the city. California is a land of microclimates indeed!
Sorry but if the rivers caused the breeze, why does Davis benefit from it? Or Elk grove? Sure the lakes and rivers offer some microclimate cooling but the 'breeze' is caused by hot valley air rising which pulls in the dense cool air from the ocean. That is why is starts around 4pm... After the heat has caused enough air to rise. Actually the process starts sooner in SF (seems about 1pm) but it takes a while as wind takes time to travel.

The term delta breeze confuses a lot. I prefer they call it the Onshore breeze or something similar.

True it's definitely an ONSHORE WIND. The entire gap or opening in the Coast Range Mountains that lies where the Bay/Delta is located is sort of giant funnel that captures the onshore cold moist air and winds and sucks them east, northeast, and southeast gaining speed and losing moisture as it moves through the Delta.

It primarily blows northeast with Fairfield, South Sacramento and Sacramento it's primary target and all the those areas in between.

The winds sort of act like a low pressure system moving in a counter clockwise direction. These winds follow waterways such as the Sacramento and American Rivers and perhaps on up through canyons northeast and east of Sacramento when the winds are strong enough.

nonetheless....the delta breeze rarely reaches Folsom during the day. It does cool down at night, and a lot of people take advantage of the whole house fans.

There is a nice breeze blowing up the river if you live on the American River side of town.

Current temp in Folsom at 12:04 am is 79F
