I had a job interview scheduled with the DMV, but an emergency the morning of made me miss it. I was in the ER most of the day, so it was the farthest thing from my mind. I didn't get out until late in the evening, and by then I figured it was too late to call to explain my absence. This was 2 weeks ago.

I got a letter in the mail today from the unit of the DMV that the interview was scheduled at (the main building by Broadway). It basically outlined that I missed the interview, and if I were to dispute it I had to contact someone in writing by a certain date.

Does anything else happen from this point? I'm not too concerned about the position or the job as I've gotten something else in the mean time, but does this blacklist me from certain state jobs in the future, or does it just remove from the eligibility list? I'm more curious than anything.

Thanks!

Nothing will happen, you can apply for other jobs with the state

Seems kind of odd they went with the formality of sending me a letter in the mail if that was the case. Then again, it's the state.

Exactly. They have to document everything.

Basically, you'll never get that position. I doubt it goes beyond that.

A similar thing happened to a family friend and after he wrote them they sent a formal letter saying the position was no longer available (Filled) but he could apply for any other openings in the future. So you just won't get that position because by the time you write and they respond the position will have been filled but you are ok to apply again in the future.

Thanks for the input. I'm not writing back to them since it said it was only necessary if I were to dispute what the letter said, and since I'm not (I genuinely missed it) then I'll let it play out.

Yeah, writing back would just be a waste of time. You will be fine if you ever want to apply in the future. Good luck.
