If hubby is working in Folsom and Placerville, it will be easier for him to stay on the highway 50 corridor. It depends on what you are looking for. I came from SoCal and was NOT interested in homogeneous tract homes and in higher-income areas because they tend to be very conservative and not what I like. So I stayed away from El Dorado Hills, Roseville, Whitney Ranch, Granite Bay, Rancho Murieta. I don't want to be in a tight HOA where they tell you you painted your house the wrong shade of yellow (that would be El Dorado Hills!). But if you LIKE property upkept due to strict rules, those places might be good for you. El Dorado County and Placer County are pretty conservative and white. Not to say that I wouldn't welcome you . Folsom might be a good choice, it has a little more of an ethnic mix (I have Persian and Indian and African-American friends there and there is a small community of them there). The school district is bigger and might accommodate special ed a little better. Folsom is next to Rancho Cordova which has a gymnastics center for your daughter. If you go over to Auburn, Roseville, etc. it will be a big long commute for your hubby.

If you want to know anything in particular about El Dorado County let me know .

Good luck!

I think Folsom would be for you. Folsom is a nice family town, there are gymnastic schools (http://www.tricksgym.com/Schedules.aspx - broken link)in folsom. If you work In Folsom its a no brainer. Also for the other's asking about ethnicity in Folsom. Folsom is mostly caucasian but there is a community of people from India, asia, and african americans that live and work in Folsom. Many of the folks from India etc work at Intel. Because of the nice mix of culture's in Folsom you have some good Indian, Thai and sushi places to eat. Eldorado Hills is nice but a bit too pricey for my tastes. Placerville and farther up the hill are a bit too far and away from Sac for my liking.

Default Where in Folsum to placerville

The vibe is very different up here in placerville.Folsum, granite bay are bedroom communities and placerville is the suburban sticks.. but I love it. If you are well off and more yuppish you'll love g- bay for the affluent.Placerville is the gateway to the country...You're in folsum from Hwy 50 pville to folsum in 15 minutes pending traffic

Placerville is they type of place where you move to "get away from it all", auburn is where you move to get away from it all, only to find out everyone else is too.

^^ Thats probably pretty accurate. Although outside the city limits of auburn it can get quite rural. Just drove to placerville last week though and would love to live even farther from "the city."
