Anyone buying new construction right now?

We're supposed to close in a Meritage community in a few weeks. So far the build quality seems good -- we've been visiting the site regularly.

But I've heard some people advising against any "cookie cutter" new construction right now.

We intend to get an independent inspection of the home before closing -- even though the builder is pushing back on this.

Anyone with experience to share how things are going in 2020/2021?

I will wager those people "advising" against "cookie cutter" new construction are just the same people who don't like houses like that in general.

Let's see - homes being built out in the open air and sunshine, in the hot and dry weather. Detached single family homes at that.

COVID risks? Seriously?

I would think the OP is asking more about quality than Covid risks no? Because materials have been harder to source and labor harder to get and everything way more expensive - maybe quality has suffered? That's what I got anyway. I have no experience with the matter.

Yes, that's exactly what I mean.

I have friends who bought a new home in Rancho Cordova last year and they are very happy with it. It has the smallest backyard I've ever seen but they seem ok with it.
