Raley's is better for the specialty items or holiday snacks/meats/fish etc. I love the large banana cream pies at the Safeway near my work place. They seem to have a pretty good fish section too. Winco is the place to do the big shopping trips though. The Winco in Folsom has seen a great improvement in their meat section. Still doesn't have the greatest selection, but the ground beef/round/chuck is MUCH better than it used to be. My one complaint with Winco is they will have 600 varieties of Bologna and boiled ham and no other stuff like pickle loaf for your sandwiches. Ticks me off seeing the tons of the boiled ham stuff that never seems to move...

I'll have to try Trader Joe's. I've never been there.

We shop WinCo for the major food order, and then go to Bel Air for the produce and meats.

Candlewik is on a distinguished road
For meats you can't beat Corti Brothers. Maybe a little pricey but you actually get what you pay for there.

I agree with everyone else about Winco. Great for everything but produce and meat. We buy meat at Costco or Raleys.
