Default Sacramento Job Market

My husband is looking for work in either the financial industry (economics degree and lots of experience with open out cry trading) and sales. Can anyone tell me what the current job market is like in these fields in the Sacramento area? Does anyone have recommendations about companies in Sac that he might look into? Does anyone know about any job fairs the weekend of Feb 15 - 18 2008? I realize this is pretty specific, but I thought somebody might have some information. Thanks in advance for your help.

If you decide to move up here my advise would be to apply for State Jobs ASAP. These jobs will pay well and have great benefits, but they take awhile to hear back from.

Thanks Mike and Candle - I will forward the state jobs link to my husband (gave him Mikes yesterday).

I am in the pharmaceutical industry - anyone know about pharma companies or Contract Research Organizations (CROs) in the area? I am working with recruiters now, but I'll take any advice or referrals. Thanks so much!

Last year the State was the employer creating the largest number of new jobs in Sacramento. Do you think the Governor's budget cut proposal will significantly decrease the opportunities for employment this year?

I hope not, I've been with the state for just under a year now!

One thing to consider about a state job is if you are planing to work for the state for the long term? There are a lot of older people currently working for the state that will be retiring within the next 10 years. It should provide ample growth opportunities.

On the other hand a state salary generally pays far less that they do in the private sector.
