That is El Dorado County and the bail schedule shows it should be $238 Check here, names are listed alphabetically maybe the cop made a mistake in the amount of the fine

Eek, sorry to hear it, OP. Truckee on 80 (not 50...) is a notorious speed trap. Every time except once or twice, I have seen CHP camped out by the chain areas. They like to hide there in the dark with their lights off and catch people speeding late at night.
That said you will likely not win in court. Even if there's no "evidence of construction" you have to go by the sign. I understand it sucks and maybe the cop needed to meet his quota or something but that is what they will say in court.

Interesting. Getting the fine lowered might be the OP's best bet here.

Well, there is a clue. You weren't cited for speeding. You were cited for driving too fast for conditions. So what the speed zone was is irrelevant.

It's $367 for 22350 16-25 over, so my guess is that what he charged you with and the bail schedule dropped a few dollars since it was published.

22350 Unsafe Speed for Prevailing Conditions 16–25 MPH Over Limit 367.00

If that isn't consistent with what is written on the ticket call the court and see if you can get someone there to check on it.

I agree, OP was confusing. But, he's from Texas, previously from NorCal.

If you want to fight your ticket, I suggest reading this website: Help! I Got a Ticket!

As an out-of-state resident, the trial by written declaration is an easy option. Nothing more satisfying then getting one of these back in the mail

I love it! Yes, OP, call the court and ask what your options are. You should get a letter in the mail that tells you, but it might be faster to call the court. I got a ticket last year in Redding, and I had to wait for them to get me in the system before they could look up my ticket.

But, one of the options was to have the judge look over your case, without having to show up in court. That must be what MidtownSacto is referring to above - the trial by written declaration.

I chose not to take that option last year, because at the time you had to actually pay the ticket before you could get this option, and I didn't have the money. Fortunately, that was recently ruled unlawful, so at least they don't make you pay to be able to have your day in court anymore.

I checked on the El Dorado County website and they don't mail out the notice to appear anymore, but they replaced that with a database on their website where the 'victim' can look up info on their citation and get the appearance date, I provided that link for them. The website might also give info on how to fight the citation but I wasn't looking for that specificially
