Looking to move to northern Cali, Oregon or Washington. Currently live Vegas and tired of all the people, crime and violence. Looking to find a house on or near a lake. Love swimming, fishing, kayaking! Was wondering if anyone could give me advice on a nice town within 40min of a casino that's not high in crime and is somewhat affordable. I see a lot of casino hiring blackjack and crap dealers but just not sure if it's in a good city. First time posting on here so if it's to vague or anything I appolgize. Thank you.

Way too vague.

Start by looking for a town you would want to live in, then see if there's a casino within 40 minutes. Then go to Craigslist and see if you can afford to live there. Rinse repeat. When you find one you can afford, go to the appropriate forum and ask about the town.

Good luck.

There are two casinos fairly close to Sacramento, Thunder Valley in Lincoln and Red Hawk near Placerville. Cache Creek is about an hour from Sacramento and close to an hour to Fairfield. If you are going to work in a casino it is highly unlikely that you will be buying a house on a lake any time soon, but you can check real estate websites and figure out that on your own.

But please don't say "Cali", it's California. That is sort of like saying "Nev-ahh-da"

Most of the houses I looked at on a lake or river in Oregon and Washington range anywhere from $200,000- $400,000 which is right around my price range. I was born and raised in Southern California. We always said Cali so sorry if that offends you but thank you for the information.

It doesn't offend me at all, it's just slightly irritating I responded with info about N. California casinos because you posted this in the Sacramento forum, maybe for Oregon or Washington you would want to cross post there. Have you thought about Reno or Tahoe?

Check out Lakeport on Clear Lake in Lake County, CA. There are several casinos in the area such as Konocti Vista, Running Creek, Twin Pines Casino and several smaller ones.

Yeah Lakeport might be worth checking out. Housing might be very affordable in that area. When everything isn't on fire there's good kayaking along some of the rivers/creeks not far from there. The lake itself has pollution problems but does host a yearly bass tournament. It's a nicer looking lake than it gets credit for, but some of the towns around the lake are down on their luck.

Obviously Lake Tahoe is the most pristine lake with casinos. I don't think the casinos pay especially well, but if you have some money saved and this doesn't apply, I bet you can find a house for under $400,000 somewhere nearby, not necessarily with views of the Lake.

Well outside of your search: if you really want a lake home near a casino with good fishing and water sports, and you're up for a radical change, maybe check out some of the upper-midwest casinos (e.g. MN/WI) where there are way more lakes (with more prolific fishing), cheaper land, and low crime.
