Carmichael
Well Im moving to the Sacramento area over new years and have been looking for rentals and kind of have an idea of what I can get; I just need location help. My girlfriend is going to be living in Carmichael so Im wanting to be within about a 30 minute drive from her. At the same time I want to be as close to South Lake as possible. So the real question is that I was just wondering which town in between Carmichael and South Lake would be best to live in. I have yet to visit the area yet but am coming to look for a house in about 2 weeks, so Im just trying to get a jumpstart on the area to look. I'd also like to be in a smaller place than Sacramento and like I said as close to the mountain as possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do you mean South Lake Tahoe?? There is no city called South Lake here in the Sacramento area unless you are talking about some obscure housing development.

Carmichael
Carmichael is a really nice area to live in. I had the same question as Guingirl, did you mean So. Lake Tahoe? If it is, I would suggest El Dorado Hills or Cameron Park. Both are nice areas and would be about an hour and a half drive to SLT.

Anything on the Hwy 50 Corridor would be closer like Folsom.

Closer than El Dorado Hills
Guingirl is correct. Folsom is closer and a very nice place to live. The old Mather Air Force Base has been turned into a city (Mather). There is a ton of building going on there, so you might also want to check out newer developments in that area. I would suggest staying clear of Rancho Cordova unless you are really familiar with the city because most of it is not very nice.
