I know, I know move to roseville, folsom, etc. But we can't. Financially we are looking at low 200s and the only thing really doable is elk grove or antelope. There are some houses in citrus heights and west sac, but the majority of the houses in our price range, with the most space are located in EG or Antelope. We have two small kids, one starting kindergarten in 09-10 and a good school district is important, plus my husband teaches and these are the most promising areas job-wise.

That being said, when comparing the two places what are the pros and cons of each (in relation to each other). After this mess of foreclosures, which ultimately is allowing us to move back to CA, which one with weather the ride better?

Commute issues probably won't be a major deal as we would be living close to my husband's work anyway.

Dont move to antelope! Elk grove has to be better. I lived in Antelope for two years and had a child start kindergarten there. The schools are very oppresive and the people are rude. Don't get me started on the drivers. The crime rate is escalating and it will take hours for a police officer to get to where you are. In the time I lived there it went from decent to dreadful with two murders in the neighborhood and crime...ugh.. Elk Grove is definitely better. and... good luck.

Yeah, I have to agree here, Elk Grove would be an easy choice for me over Antelope too. I think that you will be happier with the schools in Elk Grove, and once the market rebounds you should find that the lifestyle there is pretty good relative to the cost.

Citrus Heights is a safe place to live. Since the city incorporated over 10 years ago, Citrus Heights has become a better place to live. We now have our own police force and police protection has greatly improved. The city has done a lot to improve many things. Citrus Heights offers all of the goods and services you will ever need without having to drive out to other areas.

Definitely Elk Grove, both for housing and for a teaching job. Elk Grove has the best pay and benefits.

I agree

We moved to Antelope about a year ago and so far it's been pretty good, we do have a new high school going in this coming fall so this could be interesting.

We searched for 6 months and have been though elk grove and i wouldn't want to be near all the "Big Problems" down there.
