My teenage daughter heard this and told my husband and of course I was very saddened and disheartened. I am Southeast Asian and my husband biracial. Our family REALLY appears like the united nations as we all look different and all have different skin tones. I know that people from all the cities, even the rural ones, come to visit the lake so I know it is not a reflection on Folsom itself. It just gives us something to think about.
There are jerks everywhere, and not all of them are white, either. They could have been from anywhere. Renting is not a bad idea. Good luck!

Wow! I am surprised and happy to hear from you. After much prayer and discussion, we relocated to Oregon (like many other Californians) late 2016. Our boys are in a very good Christian School and we bought a home in a great neighborhood, just in case of resale or public school. Portland is just 12 miles away, which is approximately 25 minutes. In LA, this would be 35-45 minutes. Portland is known for good food and beer/cider. So we enjoy going into town! Topography is beautiful with awesome bike trails, hikes and playgrounds. The locals do complain about the increased traffic. But being from SoCal, there's no comparison. We keep to ourselves mostly but I find myself befriending many other transplants from Ca looking for the same slow paved life. I am grateful! I think we made a good decision. Go Celtics (my husband is orig from Boston)!

For Sophy123, congrats on Oregon. Like you say, a lot of Californians have moved there and haven't moved back so they must be enjoying it also.

For Msboston78, since your "question" is similar but not necessarily the same, you would probably get a better answer if you post your specific question. For instance, if your question is also about lot sizes, there are actually neighborhoods just outside of individual towns that have houses on 1-5 acre parcels and would give children plenty of room to play without even leaving your property.
