I live in Sacramento county, and I just found out I have a warrant in Yolo county for failure to appear on a petty theft charge. I'll be making phone calls to Yolo County and to fraud protection services tomorrow morning but if anybody has experienced anything like this or could offer any kind of support or advice I would appreciate this. I couldn't find another form to post this to

You just call them or go see them. They'll want to verify who you are, copy your driver's license, etc., maybe take fingerprints Hard to believe you'd lose your job without them giving you a chance to get it straightened out.

There is someone with my same exact name, born around the same time as me, and also in northern CA. I've had to prove I wasn't her a couple times. Once when a judgment showed up with my name, when I was trying to sell my house. They wanted all judgments cleared (title company). And another time I got a bill for back child-support for kids I never had LOL.

It's no big deal. Just go take care of it now.

Freeze your credit. Contact DMV and Social Security. It could get very ugly for years. Man, if someone stole my identity, he better pray the cops gets to him before I do. It won't end well.

Yeah I was working as a temp and was offered to be hired permanently. I called sac county and they couldn't find anything so I called my boss back and told him it had to be a mistake. He said the only thing he could do was email me a copy of my background check. I've had these charges for a while apparently. I called him again and said that I haven't even been to yolo county in that time frame and that someone must of stolen my identity. He said there was nothing he could do but I guarantee I'm going to do what I can. I had absolutely no freaking idea that something like this was even possible. I had my identity stolen once for a Comcast bill but that was resolved with one phone call. I can't believe I got fired over this

Go to court and plead not guilty to the charge, if you have a limited income ask that the court appoint a public defender. Explain the situation to the public defender, they will present your case to the District attorney and it might get settled before you even make a second court appearance.
