I'll add, Lincoln was a great place to live. Lots of walking trails, even in the newer areas, and there's Hidden Falls in Auburn which had nice hiking. You can easily get to lakes and nature from there. It is a bigger city (45K) but has a small town feel. For instance, a man was "parking" his horse one day at the Starbucks

I agree. i'm glad my Lincoln friend moved so I no longer have a reason to go out there. But traffic is getting congested everywhere. Someone was commenting on the local folsom forum that they used to be able to anticipate the heavy traffic, but now, there seems to be no rhyme or reason to it.

Oh, I agree CraftyKiki and Caligirl about 65. I've been caught on that freeway and couldn't make sense of the traffic. I think it's because things are just so dense in the area.

On a side note, I've got a family member who lives in Roseville, you know in the midst of all the houses. She's on .21 acre, a big lot and her house is nice in a nice neighborhood, 1500 sq ft, so not too big. However, her neighbor is on at least .25 acres and the house is 2000 sq ft and is only valued a few thousand over hers. What surprises me is her house is only worth about 360K. I couldn't figure it out since we've been looking for houses east along 80 on a couple acres and can't touch anything decent for under 650K. I wondered why such a large discrepancy.

The only thing I can think of is that Roseville has such a glut of inventory. There are so many houses for sale because it's a huge mass of nothing but houses one on top of each other for miles on end even though some lots are quite spacious, so there's nothing very unique about any of them or the area. That's the only sense I can make of why homes in Roseville in the better neighborhoods on good sized lots can be so inexpensive. Of course, I notice that the more I head toward 80, the homes increase in value until they hit the 600K mark to start.

Well, back to dense Roseville - I do like the 3-4 left lane turn lanes, for sure! You can get anywhere relatively fast in Roseville on surface streets, I've found! This is a GOOD thing. It looks like the same thing is happening along 65 with all the new housing as happened in Roseville. It's just a mass of people jammed together, hence the traffic at all hours.

I was on a walk tonight in El Dorado Hills and all I could see across the valley were rows & rows of houses. UGLY! Talking to a couple of friends in Cameron Park & Rescue, who were commenting on the steady line of red lights going one direction and white lights going the opposite direction on 50. Traffic starts getting congested at Cameron Park going west on 50, and jams up at EDH/Folsom. I feel for those commuters, and plan appointments so i'm not on the road during commute times. It took me nearly 30 minutes to get from my house in Folsom to the Serrano library tonight at 530. Unbelievable.

Everywhere I look there is new construction, as if the developers want to fill every empty square inch with a building & cash in their pockets. The neighborhoods can be quite beautiful, especially at night as I was noticing on my drive home, but it's awful during the day when many people think the roadway is their personal racetrack.
