Only in California...

Alleged Gang Rape of disabled man in Sacramento Park investigated by police
Sacramento police investigate alleged gang rape | The Sacramento Bee

This is an "alleged" attack so it might just turn out to be the sick fantasy of the man alleging the incident took place.

Still a bizarre news story nonetheless.

Why would anyone 'allege' this kind of attack and go through the trauma of a rape kit and rape investigation, having one's memory of the incident, sexual history and lifestyle choices questioned and questioned again by law enforcement investigators who are very often insensitive to the experience? Why would anyone put themselves through that? "Sick fantasy"? I think not. You're edging a little too close to blaming the victim and that's not ok.

This alleged incident happened just down the street from me, and yes, it does seem a little bizarre.
For starters, he never says what time this had occurred. There's always people in the park (parents w/ kids playing at the playground which is right next to the bathrooms, people playing basketball, walkers, joggers etc) and on that particular day, a food truck event was scheduled to begin @ 5pm and they usually start setting up a couple hours prior, so it's a little hard to believe there wasn't any witnesses.
The park at night is a different story though...

The victim runs away to a bathroom and claims to have been beaten, but why run into a gross park bathroom to "escape"? I know he is mentally challenged, so that may be why he chose that "escape" route.
Also, after watching the local news station videos of the story, there did not seem to be any visible signs of being beaten, but that doesn't prove nor disprove anything either.

He's also a local member of NextDoor and says he'll be giving updates on the case when the Detectives find anything, that seems a little too much TMI.
I'll just stop there, I don't want to come off as insensitive, but the story is a little fishy and we'll have to see how it pans out.

Sounds like the plot of a gay porn flick.

But you rrr Blanche, you rrrr....you are coming off insensitive. Why doubt at all. Your post is all about doubt. The incident was apparently in the morning or late morning not in the late afternoon evening when the food truck event occurred.

It is very easy to believe there are people in the world that would do this to him. So sad.

What makes the case difficult to believe is that his alleged attackers were gay men (as opposed to straight men, yes you read that right). It stretches credulity to say four gay men raped this guy.

Update: I reread it and it doesn't say the attackers were gay men.

It doesn't really matter if the attackers were gay or straight, nor if the victim was gay or straight. Rape is almost always about humiliation, dominance and violence. If the rape was specifically done because the victim was gay, then that is a hate crime as well as rape.

You do know that Male on Male sex weather in the form of rape or not is quite common.

This news article had an amazing online front page presence that lingered on. I believe responsible journalism owes readers an investigative postscript. It'll be interesting to see if the Sacramento Bee delivers.

Honestly, my "smell test" of this was activated when reading the article.

I am highly skeptical too. Stuff like this happens...in prison, but I've never heard of it elsewhere except in Bosnia whee it was used for male degradation.

I wil leave aside the veracity of the report for the moment, but wouldn't the attackers in this situation be *by definition* gay rapists? We are what we do?
