Default Drive time from Roseville/Rocklin to Elk Grove

Hello,

Just wondering if anyone commutes to Elk Grove from Roseville area? My husband will be working 330p to 12a.m so it's not peak commute time ( I wouldn't think)
I initially wanted to move to Elk Grove so he wouldn't have to commute at all but everything I'm reading has me a little worried. I would rather be in a safer area with better schools for my kids.
Any comments, thoughts?
Appreciate it!

Well Elk Grove isn't THAT bad - but you are right Roseville schools are better.

3:30pm might see some traffic! I'd say 90 minute drive with traffic, 30 -45 (depending on where in Roseville you are) without traffic

Thanks CityGirl72! So Elk Grove isn't THAT bad?? At first I was set on moving there and then I come here and read all these post and it made me second guess everything!!! I'm so confused I don't know what to do! We're from Pleasanton and here there is little to no crime and schools are excellent!
Have you or do you live in Elk Grove?

OHHH My sister lived in Pleasanton - it is very nice there!

Well the reason you see alot on Elk Grove is because it was the up and coming neighborhood, but recently has too many homes and lots of new homes that aren't sold. SO the neighborhood is way over built. But it was quite nice - I remember back in 2000 it was the only place I liked to shop!

Anyway it's also South of South Sacramento. And South Sac is where the majority of gangs and just bad news is...I was pretty sure it would seep into Elk Grove one day and I guess it has...slowly the bad stuff is moving toward Elk Grove.

There are still very nice parts of Elk Grove. But when comparing it to Roseville. Roseville will have the better schools and cleaner area hands down.

PS - Yes I did live in Elk Grove back in 97 and 98, and then moved to be closer to Sac State. My ex husband still lives there (so this is where my son is for the summers) - in the Laguna Park area off the I-5. He intially bought there for the nice schools.

Have you thought about moving south of Elk Grove? Like Galt? I hear there are really nice areas with new homes in Galt.
