This is so sad, politics aside. Officer French lived in EDH and there are a lot of grieving friends right now. I know the risk is there when someone works in a police job, but man this sucks. My heart is breaking for his family.

And to think Sacramento city government wants to pay $1.5 million to gang members to supposedly convince them to stop commiting violence?

Maybe they should use that money for the officers who were shot instead?

Thank God we don't live in an area where these things happen way to often. Say what people want about cops, but God only knows, they put their lives on the line daily so we can be safe. They deserve our respect and praise.

The Officers who were shot will be very well taken care of, if they are forced to retire on disability they will have more than enough money to live very comfortably. The 1.5 million for 'gang members' is not quite what you are trying to make it out to be. It's a program that was implemented in Richmond with great success, In 2014 there were 11 gun homicides, the fewest number of people killed in Richmond in four decades. But God forbid we actually do something to stop gun violence, and perhaps save some Officers from getting injured or killed, it's so much more fun to complain about programs we know nothing about.

I know how you feel, my dad used to say "I have never wished anyone dead but there are some people whose obituaries I look forward to reading"

Richmond pays extortion money, I mean assistance aid, to residents who don't commit.

Call it what you want, but it works. And where is your angst about the money we have spent on "extortion money" to Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, and a number of other countries?
