If measure U passes, city residents will be a little poorer while public employees will be smiling all the way to the bank.

Quote:
“The truth of the matter is that most or all these revenues will go toward increased pension and retirement costs for city employees,” Powell said. “It’s going to do real harm to working families in Sacramento. It’s purportedly for the purpose of helping them … It’s a tragic irony."

The poster above a public employee. It makes sense that he/she want other people's money. This measure, like all the props asking for taxpayer money, is all about paying for public employee pensions and benefits.

If you are tired of working hard to pay for public employee pensions and benefits, say NO the measure U.

Even the people this measure are supposed to help are against it:

Quote:
“At best, less than half of the new Measure U money could be used as advertised,” Williams wrote, adding that promises it would be spent on affordable housing, job development or homelessness is “disingenuous, because city budget projections are filled with red ink for years to come due to excessive salary and pension obligations.”

I was just reading this measure was for the deal Mayor Steinberg made with the construction unions getting preferential treatment on bids by excluding non-union construction companies from bidding on city projects. If the link doesn't work just google Craig Powell from Eye on Sacramento calls for investigation of Mayor Steinberg fundraising methods transferring money from one account to another that he can spend on whatever he wants since it's not assigned to anything.

https://fox40.com/2018/10/18/watchdo...uction-unions/

also, if you can, listen to John McGinness KFBK show from today (Thursday, Oct 18). He interviews Craig Powell. Really interesting about how donations are handled by the mayor.

Many say it's there to pay golden pensions for state workers, I'm really doubting that, but one thing I do know, Steinberg needs to be investigated for rewriting the rules for granting contracts to city projects as well as conflicts of interest in donations from those who benefit from the same. I want so much to see his face when U does not pass.

I'm voting NO ON U and I hope U will too.

I don't live in Sacramento, but I'd like to know why it's always "cops AND firefighters".

I am all for more firefighters, especially where there is a potential for wildfires, but we have too many cops everywhere as it is.

I finally opened my ballot to fill in the choices, after studying extensively and discovered I don't even get to vote on Measure U! I live too far outside of the city. Regardless, I work in the city and do hope it is NO because it is a scam by our Mayor. I fear that he (Steinberg) and Newsom will set us back while we need to heal and recover from eight years of Brown. We shall be watching and hoping on Election Day.
