Being a guitar player that mainly plays cover music, I am interested in the Cover Circuit there.
Can someone play every weekend and maybe even some weeknights doing Top 40? Is there a Top 40 Band/Venue website for the Sacramento Area? Can anyone give me a breakdown on payscale for Top 40 bands? Are Cover Bands traveling to San Francisco and Reno for additional gigs? I am currently in Seattle and most 4 piece bands make $100 per band member per night unless you get into casinos which you can make double or triple that. Any Help is Apreciated, Thank You |

There really isn't a cover band circuit here, other than a few small venues like the restaurant on the Delta King. Most of the live band venues in town feature bands that write and perform their own songs.

Not true
First look through the Sacramento News & Review - it's just like the Seattle music paper, they have a bunch of contacts for the music biz Secondly - I can't remember the name of the band exactly - it was like CheeseHeads or something like that but they were VERY popular, and played the music venue circuit - mostly Harlows (on J st ) though SO you could call Harlows and get a breakdown of pay |

Cheeseballs. They played a lot at Harlow's for a while. I'm not saying there aren't any, but it's kind of a niche thing, whereas in other cities the majority of bands play only covers and most venues only want cover bands.

Thanks for the info, if any one else has more to add please feel free.
But if we are talking about 1 or 2 venues that is not going to be enough to play every weekend which is my goal. I will look at the periodical you mentioned. I know for our area there is a really good underground web site that tracks specifically cover bands and it unfortunately does not come up on a Google search, just wondering if there was anything like that for the Sacramento area. If there is a band member on here in a similar situation, I would really like more info, as I had mentioned I wonder how many are going to Frisco or Reno for work. We have some gigs here we travel more than an hour to get to. Thanks again for the responses ![]() |
