No not all, just speaking the truth as it is,
Looking forward to a move to Oklahoma, which i wouldn't of thought about eight years ago. But now i pray everyday for one.

I want to go out of my house and be able to wave to people, I want to go in the store and not have to go around people who are park in the middle of the isle, and dodge bratty children throwing things around. I want drive down the street and know the person next to me is paying attention.
I want to go to bed and wake up without the gun shots.

40 years of LA and 10 years Sacramento, ready for a change

Where do you live in Sac!! Even when I lived in Midtown I never heard gun shots!

You should live in Seattle - NOBODY talks to anybody! Google: Seattle Freeze

Well yeah some of that can be true in some areas of Sac, but come on, not all areas are that bad. Even I can admit that and I'm not a huge fan of Sac. I can understand what you are saying, because I was pretty fed up with this area over the last couple of years. Last year we drove all over the US checking out areas. I have seen far worse. I even almost bought a house in Wisc. Which has problems too. Oklahoma has it's own issues. You won't be getting away from trouble there either. It's all over.
We retired last fall from our business and I can't tell you how much better I feel towards this area. I was so negative about it because I was so stressed out and couldn't take it anymore. I have really enjoyed this spring. BTW, I'm about 30 min. from Sac. Spent my Bday in Old Sac.

Nothing you have said so far is unique to the Sacramento area, nor are they even particularly accurate when applied to the area as a whole. Not one thing.

I can guarantee you that moving away will not improve your outlook.

Sure it will, i seem to already have more friends in Oklahoma then i have had in my life time in California. I even look forward to there cost of living and life style. Even my husband has always thought of California as home for life, till last year when he had a business trip in Oklahoma and when he got back he told me that was the place he wants to go to. He has had two heart attacks since we lived in Sacramento, (one thing i can say for these doctors, they are highly train in this field.) They thought he was on viagra

With retriement coming around the corner, and watching what my folks fork out for retriement, i want to be ready. California will take your money

On the other hand the more people that come here the better chance i have of selling my home.

9 years Rancho Cordova
9 months of Antelope

LOL, you bought the grass is greener on the other side, didn't you? I hope you realize that life in the mid-west is not like the Andy Griffith show.
You think people in CA are rude? You just wait until the dust has settled and you realize you live in hillbilly-h%ll. Welcome to the toothless, high-school drop-out, meth lab capital of the world. I hope you don't mind people thinking you are a liberal CA fruitloop. If I were a betting man I would wager that you will be praying for a move back to CA in 2-3 years.

I believe i read that you were checking out real estate closely?
We looked for a house to buy for 6 months, and went though 4 counties here.
The pictures and details will fool you about these homes, wait till you get to the house and get a close up look, you will be surprised by what they don't tell you. We rented in Rancho Cordova for eight years and the owner had no means of making things better for us, even after eight years of good credit to him. The house was just falling down around us, we needed to move on.
We are in Antelope only because the realtor finally found something we could pay for. We are near the despatch of the police helicopters so they fly just about every night over head. The headlines everyday is usually teens killed in auto accidents.

I would not live in Rancho Cordova or Antelope - so I feel for you (especially if you are in the rougher parts)

We have a budget of about $450K (with 40% down) for a home, and I lived in Sac for ten years so I know the areas well - plus we are mostly looking in Folsom for the schools.

We lived in Pollock Pines for 6 years in the early 80's and worked down near Placerville, it was a company transfer from the Valley, though they moved on to North Carolina and we had to go back to Los Angeles.

Anyways if you haven't seen Folsom lately they have build up to a pretty big city now. Lots and Lots of stores and restaurants. I can't speak for the schools there, mainly cause i don't have the need to check them out.
I do know that home schooling is on the raise though. If you can afford to live there thats great. But i wouldn't live there, just to many people to get by. And road rage is going up because of it. They do get shootings on highway 50, my husband drove it for 8 years twice a day and weekends.
Good Luck to your new findings
