I got a question for you living out in Lincoln. We were looking at Foskett Ranch... literally, about a block away from the school (Standard Pacific development). I heard Meritage Homes is being sued for not disclosing how loud the mill is (about a half mile away).

Can anyone let me know how loud that thing is? I dont mind trains.. but mills suck.

Foskett Ranch is also on our list for when we get this place sold and can get back 'home.

Our son lives in the Paloma Townhomes for the last year...his master bedroom window faces the vernal pools...I will check with him and see how loud the mill is. we have stayed there several times but the guest bedroom is in the back..but I have honestly never heard anything even with the windows open, and that is a lot closer than the Meritage homes..

I don't think it will be a huge issue but will check with my son when i talk to him later..

Yes... please check. Those Meritage homes (at least some of them) are less than 100 yards from the south part of the mill.

I'm looking at the Standard Pacific development.

Any help you could provide would be great.

Sure, no problem...I love the Standard Pacific homes, depending on prices, those might definitely be on our list! On the other hand, the son would probably like us to NOT live so close, lol.

I'll let you know, ok if I direct message you? Barb

Well, I was able to find out that your location totally depends on whether or not you can hear the saw mill. I talked to the neighbors of the house I put a bid on and they said they can't hear anything.

However, I talked to some folks who are right up against the mill in Meritage's development, and when I asked if they could hear it all night, they said 'rock and roll, baby'. One of the families even had their windows cracked. It is every night.

I finally got to talk to my son that lives at the Paloma development...his unit and master bedroom face the vernal pool/field. He said the mill is NOT an issue, they very seldom hear it, they hear the train over on 65 more often. That would not keep me from buying. In fact, as soon as we sell here, that is the area we are looking at, in Foskett Ranch. What did you decided to do??

google Lincoln California bypass and you should see it. Go to the DOT (or Caltrans) website. Right now, the bypass sort of goes up the middle of lincoln - sort of through the East side. They are redirecting 65 to go through the west so traffic will not even go through the main part of Lincoln... which is nice.

We wanted to get a Foskett Ranch house... and we were assured by neighbors there was no problem in this particular area (although, I did talk to someone in the Meritage development and they are having huge issues).

That said, the REO banker lost our stuff... so the offer expired and we ended up putting an offer on another property and got it. It is smaller - but still pretty big out in Lincoln Crossing.

The bank lost your stuff?! Holy cow...that must have been disappointing, but maybe you weren't meant to have that home...they keep telling me things happen for a reason. Lincoln Crossing is very nice, our issue with it is the HOA dues. We would not use the facilities so it would just be an extra expense for us. Twelve bridges area does not have HOA and that is probably our first choice, then Foskett Ranch.

Good luck with the new house..maybe one of these days we will be neighbors..
