Default LODI vs. stockton vs. galt vs elk grove

i'm a recent college grad moving from the midwest this july to accept a job in lodi. need some advice on where to live. i expect i'll be pretty busy with my job, but i would like to live where there are other young people around, and where there is some nightlife. is elk grove worth the commute? would you recommend living in lodi or stockton or galt? thanks!

If you're looking for nightlife, none of those communities are particularly good choices. Elk Grove and Galt are former small towns surrounded by seas of stucco suburbs. Stockton is probably the best choice, if only because there is a college there (University of the Pacific) and thus some college-oriented entertainment choices. If you're really into nightlife you may find yourself driving to Sacramento or the Bay Area a lot.

I would go with Elk Grove. It definitely has young people and it is closer to Sac which would be better for weekend night trips to downtown Sac.

Lodi is a great town, but better for families.

I don't recommend Stockton. Most of it's areas are bad. Ugly buildings, illegal aliens everywhere, nothing to do, etc. There are a few nice areas in Stockton, but they always head right into bad areas just up the road. Even if you live on Country Club or Brookside (the "good" areas of Stockton) you won't be happy there. If you're looking for a nice, quiet, White area, Stockton isn't it, though there's places near Stockton that are.

Avoid Stockton! I lived in the "good" area of Brookside and it sucked. Helicopter parents everywhere and HOA waiting to snitch on you if your grass was more than 3/4" long LOL

Lodi is B-O-R-I-N-G. Galt is even worse. Elk Grove is alright...but again, it's really a bedroom community.

Are you working on the I-5 side or the US-99 side? That makes a big difference in terms of your commute and housing.

You could do Sacramento, but honestly...the commute gets real old. Live in Lodi and just drive in when you need to party.

Default Gangs in Elk Grove

Elk Grove isn't much better either. They are suffering from a developing gang crisis.
