My response is almost identical to Alicia64's, except I'm anticipating a move to the Olympia area instead of Seattle.
I've lived in several areas around Sacramento and the foothills (for more years than I want to admit) so I hope I can help people trying to decide if and where to move in this area. |

I live in Houston and check the Houston threads all the time. In addition, I go to any interesting thread I see on the page for all the states. I love this site. I discovered it several years ago and it is one of my favorite sites on the internet.
I love this country and its people in all their diversity. It is fascinating to see the different issues in different parts of the country. The one type of post I generally skip, though, is one about crime. Everyone seems to think they are saying something original, but after you've read a few, you see they really come down to "I hate crime blah blah blah." Well guess what? EVERYONE hates crime except the criminals. And even they hate it when it happens to them. |

And I did not know we couldn't post a website URL in our messages so It was removed, Is that realy considered advertising or just leaving my signature every where, cause that is what i was trying to do, just leave a signiture and we don't seem to have an option for that here! So my new signiture will be uppymemama you can google it if you like lol!!!! |

google brought me here. everytime i have a question about anything I'll google it and see if there is a message board or forum about it.
example: "hmm, I just bought a house and now I need to vacuum it." Then bam...google: vacuum message board. I think its always good to get personal semi-unbiased opinions from users or people with first hand experience. Its hard to rely on company websites for what their product is good for. ...its going to be a dyson dc-17 animal vacuum cleaner! |

Last Christmas, I found out that I may be transfered from Santa Ana to Roseville. Knowing that the LA metro area has many different types of neighborhoods, so must Sacramento. This site has been great in finding my way around in a way that a map cannot.

Just here to help people out. I was thinking of moving out of state a while back (as I was completely frustrated with typical things Californians will be complaining about) but thanks to this forum I kind of changed my mind. I thought a small town was what I wanted and was reading the forums for Coos Bay and other little spots around the country, and I've changed my mind. I'm completely spoiled and used to having hundreds of stores around the corner available at all times. It's good also to hear from other native Californians who are deciding to stay instead of go. I've learned i'll just have to change with the times, unless I get some amazingly exceptional once-in-a-lifetime job offer somewhere out of state. I love this forum as people don't have any commercial interests in their posts (usually) and are just sharing experiences with each other in an otherwise breakneck-paced world.
"Perhaps it would be a good idea, fantastic as it sounds, to muffle every telephone, stop every motor and halt all activity for an hour some day to give people a chance to ponder for a few minutes on what it is all about, why they are living, and what they really want." ---James Truslow |
