Hi, I am 25, single and will be relocating from South FL. to Sacramento in early August. My new job is located in Placerville but I prefer the city life. I am looking for a apartment (Studio or 1Bedroom) thats under $900 and in a areas thats close to nightlife.
Also, Does anyone have websites that break down the cost of living and taxes for California. Thanks for the help. |

If you want nightlife that puts you in Midtown, and a commute of about 40 miles and 40 minutes. Income tax is static, no matter where you live:

Night life... not a ton of it in Sac, but way more then Placerville by far.
Use this to calculate cost of living, it will be more then FL... Cost of Living - Cost of Living Calculator from CNNMoney |

I tried the CNN Money and it does not list Sacramento as a destination city.... found that pretty funny.

Keep in mind that Placerville is about 50 miles from Sacramento. That means that you would spend at least 10 hours a week commuting from work to home. It also means that, assuming your car gets about 25 miles per gallon, you'll spend an extra $100 a week ($5000 a year) on gas (not to mention an extra 25,000 miles wear & tear on your car.)
And yet another thing to consider: after having to get up an hour earlier to drive to work, and having to spend an hour driving home after work, you aren't going to have much energy to boogie all night. Plus, all that gas will eat into your beer money. My suggestion: Live in Placerville if you work in Placerville. Considering that you'll be saving about $250-300 a week on gas, you can afford to drive down to Sacramento every weekend, stay in a downtown hotel, hit the clubs and walk back to your hotel, then drive back up the hill on Sunday. |

Downtown/Midtown would be the ideal location for anything nightlife. |
