Default So tell me about the drive in theatre is rancho cordova

Here in L.A. the thought of a Drive-In has long passed. On my most recent trip up to NorCal I noticed a Drive-In off the 50. It brought back so many great memories while growing up. I remember sitting in the back of the station wagon ( yes, I said station wagon. I guess that I am dating myself.LOL) watching the movies and enjoying the time with my family. Then, as I got older going with my friends. That is something that I would love for my girls to be able to do. Not knowing what Rancho Cordova is all about or how safe it is. Can anyone give me any input about the place.

It's the last one in Sacramento County, and the owners have been threatening to close it for several years, perhaps to milk a bit more business out of the nostalgia factor. There is a plan in place for a shopping center on the site, and the owners keep saying "this is the year, we're closing down soon!" So, I wouldn't consider moving to Rancho Cordova just because of the drive-in. It's okay, Rancho Cordova is a brand new city that seems to be starting off on the right foot. Originally, the Rancho Cordova suburbs intended to support the Mather air force base and the Aerojet propulsion facility. Now it's mostly a bedroom community for Sacramento, although there are some employment centers, including some industry at the now-decommissioned Mather base (there is a private freight-only airfield, VA hospital, etc.)

It's not a super-terrific area but not a particularly bad one either. It has its rough spots, and it was sometimes nicknamed "Rancho Cambodia" in the 1980s due to an influx of Southeast Asian immigrants and a reputation as a dangerous area.

Gosh they have said it was going to closed down for years and it's still going! I have never been there - but I have to the ones in L.A. when I was a child! That's where I saw Star Wars

The problem is that the owners have used the "we're closing down this year!" excuse as a way to not fix up things like the snack bar or the bathroom. The bathroom there is pretty bad--somewhere between "don't order a large soda" and "bring a jar" on the you-really-don't-want-to-use-the-bathroom scale.

Thanks for the replys. We just bought a home in Lincoln, but I was staying in Rancho at the Fairfield Inn. The rates were much cheaper tha up that way.

Tuesday night is $5 a carload night--as many people as you can jam into your automobile for five bucks. Just don't forget to bring a jar!

We used to love going because it was the only way we could actually go see to the movies with an infant/toddler.
