Default Can you hear the trains at your home?

When I lived in Midtown at I st and at G street, I could hear the trains in the background. I would sleep with the windows open every night - it was soothing

Can you hear them? Where are you? I miss it so much and would love to be by the trains again...in Folsom?

If you are just talking about the trains sometimes that's cool of you don't live too close to have it actually rattle where you live. The city has since passed regulations (laws?) for the trains not to blow their horn too close to residential areas.

You know what's not soothing tho...police/ambulance/ fire engine sirens, and planes landing at executive.

I don't think there are any heavy-rail trains running near Folsom anymore. The light rail trains don't make enough noise to carry very far, and that is all that runs on what used to be the Placerville/Ione Branch.

Y'all just need to break down and move back to Midtown. Stop making excuses and come home!

I know you don't want to move there, but when we were in Davis no matter where I lived I could always hear the trains. Not all the time, but several times a week. They went right through the middle of town, so wherever you lived the sound would carry.

We'd LOVE to move to Davis - but we can't afford it because you get a cracker box compared to other areas

So I hear I never owned a home there, but we would go open-housing for fun and there are some expensive houses there, especially in the newly developed areas in the east, some of the older homes in the west and in Mace Ranch.

I live in Citrus Heights and can hear the trains in the Roseville train yard each night.

I'm in the Pocket, and for probably the first time in my life I live in a place where I can't hear any trains.

I used to live by the University and you can hear them all the time, all day long. Not anymore, all I hear are birds. No more traffic for me.

You would need to be near Antelope, I think, to hear trains. The light rail runs into Folsom but it's pretty quiet. There are some areas in Sac where you would hear trains, but I don't think any of them are nice areas. When I first moved to Shingle Springs I could hear the train every night, but that line was closed in 1988. There's talk of starting the train up again as a wine train and commuter train during the week, but nothing has happened so far.
