Traffic and Parking Tickets (Sacramento: DMV, legally, move)

My daughter has several traffic tickets and parking tickets that are a couple years old. She made arrangements to pay but hasn't followed through. Can she get thrown in jail for her failure to pay her tickets?

She needs to call the DMV and have them run her driver's license and ticket numbers

If they are outstanding - she actually might have a revoked license, and is driving illegally.

They probably won't throw her in jail straight away but they'll take her license away - if they haven't already. The fines are going to be excessive, though, and if they can't be paid there will be a possibility of jail time, however, I'd expect she gets community service.

Traffic tickets there is a possibility she could get some time (probably minimal unless she FTA'd a court date.) There is also the very real possibility her license is suspended/revoked.

As for parking tickets if they are in the City of Sacramento if she is still driving the vehicle the tickets were received on if she is illegally parked and is spotted by one of the "parking nazi's" it will get "booted." Even if it's legally parked and one of the cars with the scanning equipment catches it, the var will get the "boot." The only way to legally remove the boot is to pay the city the balance of the outstanding tickets.

Numerous outstanding parking tickets can also effect the ability to register the vehicle as well and if the vehicle is not registered well that leads to a whole other set of problems (i.e., the 30 day impound) if the vehicle is stopped. Make sure the registration is still valid.
