Default Cameron Park Rattlesnakes?

Hi I am looking into moving from the bay area to Cameron Park, I hear there is rattlesnakes. Should I not leave my dogs to play outside in the yard themselves? Also is there taranchulas & scorpions?

Thank You

Actually, the dogs should scare away the snakes for the most part. Making sure you don't have tall grass, standing water, or mice will help also.

There is a rattlesnake vaccine for dogs. If your dog is bitten, he or she would need antibiotics for infection, but the bite shouldn't make the dog very sick. All vets in the foothills offer the vaccine.

There are scorpions, but they are pretty small and have a sting like a bee sting. I've lived in Shingle Springs for 20 years and have never been stung by one so I can't say for sure. Tarrantulas are in the foothills but are not poisonous and I've never had one inside the house or garage. My dogs think they are very boring since they move so slow.

Rattlesnakes settle where there is food. Gophers and mice are the main staple of their diet. I sincerely think you won't find a rattlesnake in a suburban back yard.
