Marysville info (Sacramento, Roseville, Lincoln: crime, houses, neighborhoods)

We are a young retired couple currently living in Washington state, originally from California. Son lives in Lincoln, we are thinking about locating either in Lincoln or possibly checking out south Marysville..in looking online, there are some newer homes in an area called Edgewater, near the college.

Anyone familiar with these neighborhoods? I know that Morrison Homes are one of the builders, not sure about other builders.

Commuting to work is not an issue for us, we can handle fog, we just stay home if it's bad. And once the 65 bypass is in in 2012, the commute to Lincoln and Roseville will be better.

Just curious, we will go down and do some actual house hunting, but thought I would check...thanks

If I were you, I would just buy in Lincoln. It has AMAZING deals on great houses right now. Also, I have found that these new builders use new names for the area, like Plumas Lake, Edgwaterm etc, and I think it is because Marysville is known for being drug and crime infested. People (suckers) come from Sacramento for a nice house they can afford, not knowing what the area is really like.

I do know some people who live in Plumas and like it, but they also say they wish they had known about the area.
