Why? probably because this is the best country to live and prosper and be free, despite all the faults that you point out!

Somebody has not been paying attention, If we are talking of freedom in the sense of democracy, then it is Sweden.

If we are talking economic freedom, then it is Hong Kong.

Generally, you hear of America being the most free country. I guess that is because it shouts about freedom a lot, but in reality it is never at the top of these kind of indexes. In the case of democracy for example I believe it is hovering around 20th somewhere. I actually think if we are looking for the "freeest" country, we need to be looking in Northern and Western Europe.

Maybe because the USA is not a democracy, nor was ever meant to be a democracy. It is a Republic. Common misconception.

YouTube - Republic vs Democracy

Take a few minutes if you want to understand what is the true form of American government. Specifically it shows the difference between a democracy and republic.

Boy, did this thread take a strange turn.

I don't see any point in leaving this open, I just think it will end up with deleted postings, and possible posting infractions.

In everyone's best interest, this thread is now closed.
