I just got back from reno and promised to myself i will never go back again (i probably will thought but shouldn't). It's just too obvious that they are trying to take your money away that i feel stupid going and gambling my money there. For example, i tried to become a member at circus circus where they had a promotion that if you spent $100 you will get that money back. I was about to sign up when i asked the lady to clarify how this works. She just said that if you spend 100 dollars on the slot machines and you loose that money you will get that money back. Something didn't sound right (too good to be true) so i asked numerous times if there was a catch, she finally told me that if i won any amount playing my $100 i loose the rights to get that money back. Basically if i won anything while i was playing, even a penny, then i couldn't get the 100 dollars back sneaky sneaky...

Then i went to el dorado where i am a member and they told me about a bonus game they had. Basically you go swipe your card in a machine every 2 hours to win stuff. I did that for over 5 times and each time i would win a pen (nothing fancy, one of those BIG brand that cost 10cents), my girlfriend also won 4 of those pens and a coupon. We thought a coupon was good so we went to ask what exactly did we win. Basically we could get a room (the cheapest room) for 45$ a night, sunday to wednesday. I checked online just now and found out that those rooms go for 35$ a night, basically we won a coupon and would have to pay 10$ more for the room...El dorado also charges for parking. I was asked to pay 7.50 for parking my car in their garage, there were no signs i could see saying that, it was a free parking but it was free only if you stayed for less than an hour (wtf!) I got pretty mad at the guy in the booth and he let me exit for free though but i'm still not going back again

Later we went to circus circus and a guy that worked there talked us into signin up and we did. Their promotion was that you play for 5 minutes for free in a machine (with other 10-15 people) and the people with the highest score at the end get free play money. I got 5000 at the end of the 5 minutes, the highest from everybody, and THEN i was told that the minimum to even get on the top 10 was 6900 points. To get 6900 is impossible unless you keep hitting 7's and jackpots...

I also have complaints about the sand's casino where they charge 1.25 for the mini bottle of water, where you get them for free at other casinos + i had to wait for 35 minutes for someone to come fix my machine where my bill got stuck. (oh, and they charge 5$ an hour for wifi)

I'm only happy with harah's (though i didn't stay for long) it's the only casino that seems professional but i pretty much hate reno right now.

I do understand that casinos are crooks in general but it's just that they are stealing the money from you (i don't mind to loose money, but not have to pay for water and parking...)

I want to know which are the best casinos in the area (winning money + customer service) that would not pis s me off when i go visit. I'm pretty happy with jackson rancheria but it's a little too far of a drive and the casino not really worth the drive. Which casinos have promotions that are worth signing up for, not charging you for everything with a friendly and professional staff (and not crooks, they all are but i'm looking for not obvious crooks)?

Thunder Valley Casino

Red Hawk Casino – Northern California Casino - a new casino near Shingle Springs. It's still under construction and NOT open yet. Suppose to be open by the end of 2008.

You go to casinos and spend and lose money and then you go on a rant about spending and losing money . What were you expecting when you visit casinos???

The Jackson Rancheria near the city of Jackson is OK, although I don't play slots or table games.

I agree with humboldt (as usual) Trying to extract something for nothing from a casino seems like a bit naive. The only time I've ever been really treated well at a casino was in Beatty NV, on my way home from LV. Won a pile in vegas and was too tired to go on and all they had was a blackjack table which I gave them $200 back. They comped my meal and my room Oh baby am I a high roller

i'm not complaining about loosing money, i do expect to loose when i go to a casino. I don't know if you read my post but what i'm complaining about is the way you are treated in reno casinos. I do think some casinos are more honest than other, Harrah's for example gives you $10 to play when you sign up, not a big deal i know, but there's no catch. Jackson is good too (free coffee, water, and helpful/friendly staff). I also know that some casinos let you play poker or blackjack with free drinks while you are playing (even though i don't play at tables)
Do we know the date when redhawk will be open?

I like Reno, I used to play almost exclusively at Fitzgeralds but they’re closing their doors today Nov 30 2008. The only other casino I’ll spend money in is CalNeva Reno. They have a decent sports book and if you play they will pay for your drinks. Harrahs always reminds me of a white collar establishment instead of a place the working man likes. I can’t stand the Indian Casinos because I play keno machines and the pay outs in the Indian Casinos are about ¼ of what they are in Nevada. Jackson doesn’t serve liquor so I won’t play with them at all.

They do serve it in the restaurant/bar in the hotel right across the way. Not the same as having your judgment impaired right at the table, but close

The difference being that it's "free" at the slots oftentimes

"free" for the money you're losing... but if you play slowly like I do, you can milk a couple of cocktails for below bar prices
