Question Drive Time from Olivehurst to Sacramento

Can someone give a good estimate in getting from Olivehurst to Sacramento on 70, (peak non-peak traffic). I searched and it showed it's about 40 miles or so.

interesting drive

you'll merge in with Roseville traffic too - so it could get pretty hellish - and it depends on what part of Sac - if you are downotwn - or do you need to cross over towards the 50 corridor?

PS - lost of accidents on the 70 - I think someone told me once it's called Death Row

I figured it would be a pain in the ****. I have an opportunity to move back to California and I would be staying with a friend of mine in Olivehurst to start off. My line of work does allow for a lot of virtual/home office work though. Just trying to get a feel for that particular commute. I love Northern California and I am 99.999% sure that I will make the move this coming fall.

It really depends on where in Sac you're working but the drive is actually pretty good. 70 is not a bad drive at all and from Olivehurst to downtown I say 35-40 minutes depending on where in Olivehurst.

The only traffic you hit is when you get closer to Sac. 70 merges with 99 but at that point there are 6 lanes and smooth sailing.

yeah about 45 min to DT SAC could be busy around East Nicolas(stop sign) and also where 70/99 merges with 5 near SMF

45 minutes is doable. At least it gives me a good reference point. I had been away from CA since 1988. Visited my nephew at Travis AFB in Fairfield last October. Visited SF, Napa Valley, Santa Cruz and Sacramento. There was so much more I wanted to do. Didn't make it to Stinson Beach, Calistoga, Muir Woods or Sausalito. Seeing the fields of brown, feeling the wind blow and that California sun. A one week visit sure bought me back to why I love NorCal. Didn't take long I'll tell you that. I'll certainly check out other areas to live around Sacramento. Olivehurst is the only known in the equation at this point. So here I sit in Connecticut. Just need to finish the consulting project I am working on and my Project Management studies at Villanova. And then I can go home

My ex-wife who is also in Connecticut, both agree, that the biggest mistake we ever made was leaving California.

It is in the works to Widen Highway 70 from Olivehurst toward Sacramento. To be completed by 2009. This should make your drive even better.
