Default Folsom area smog?

Hi, does anyone have any comments about the air quality in this area? Are there smog alert day's in the summer or winter or both? Does this happen weekly, monthly or seasonally? Is the air quality in the yellow often? Is it a quality of life issue or just an annoyance?

The prevailing winds are from the west. That means that smog gets blown up into the foothills. In this region smog is worst in the summertime and during the wintertime when we get an inversion layer. When the tule fog comes in, its cooler in the valley than in the foothills and the fog traps the smog close to the ground.

This region has problems with air quality so if Asthma is an issue for you might not want to live here.
