Default Anyone new to Sacramento regret their move?

Just wondering. Looks like a lot of people are wanting to move to Sac and have questions.

We arrived a little over two years ago from Columbus, Ohio.

Like everywhere else I have been there are things I like and things I don't, but overall I have no regrets. I think the city is generally pleasant, and the folks pretty reasonable.

So, mark me down as glad to be here.

Moved 1-1/2 years ago from the Bay Area, which we loved. Roseville has been all that we expected (the good and the not-so-good), and our kids love it here. Lately we've been spending more time in Sac (midtown and downtown) and have enjoyed all it has to offer. In sum, no regrets here.

I regret moving to Natomas when I did, the neighborhood hasn't held the way I thought it would. If I had it do over, I would probably move to Folsom or maybe Roseville, too many areas around Sacramento are kind of questionable. But in general, the region itself is about what I expected.

I agree with you yogababe , lots of sketchy places. The husband and I are planning on moving back there from NCarolina real soon and are hoping the city has expanded the light rail. Also if anyone is considering a move to Sac and has kids, check out Greatschools.com. They rate all grades by the average test scores and post parent comments. Its a very spotty city but if you can put up with the commute, there are lots of nice areas in the outlying suburbs that arent too far from downtown. Check out Fair Oaks, Orangevale, some parts of Citrus Heights...

We moved from southern california 2 years ago. It was a big adjustment, but now I love it. It's a much better place for families. Good pace of life, not too much traffic, houses are really reasonable now. I actually love Sacramento now, my kids and husband are really happy.

I moved back - and love it

But I'm still working through the guilt of making family move with me (it was the only way I could get back)

My mother in law complains about the weather constantly. If it's over 75 she's too hot. I was the opposite - under 75 and I had to toss on a sweater

I definately regret moving here in 2000. I moved away for 14 months and then my husband's job got transferred back here. I want to leave. It isn't that I don't like California in general but I really dislike the Sacramento Valley. It will never work but unfortunately the economy makes it hard to move....

Why do you dislike Sacramento Valley so much? Weather? I'm just curious.
