I agree with the other post on Colorado Springs. It seems to fit everything you asked about. I went there several times on business, it is a beautiful area, and I had once thought I would like to retire there, but I would never fit in there, and had to look elsewhere, There is a place there called valley of the Gods I think it was, beautiful, Colorado springs is about 60 miles or so south of Denver if you ever get the urge to visit Denver

RedRoses,

Dunsmuir, Pollock Pines, and east of Colfax might meet your needs. Not sure why but most of the cities in CA that get lots of snow have a large white population. The cities tend to be more multi-cultural, but don't get any snow. If you decide not to move to CA (famous for not having snow), you might want to consider Spokane, WA. The only problem may be finding jobs since the economy is more depressed than in most of CA and it's not as multi-cultural.

For multi-cultural and lots of snow you may need to consider a city in the midwest--like Detroit or Chicago, but then there's the crowded problem. Maybe Denver?

Forgot one thing for RedRoses. One good thing about living in Pollock Pines is that it's in El Dorado Co. and your business license will only be $37 as long as you use your last name in the title of your business. If you don't want to use your name, it's an extra $30. Still a bargain compared to other areas.

Or northwest Arkansas. It's all Ozarks and both have most of what you're looking for.

Stay away from North Highlands. And Rio Linda.

You might be better off in Natomas. Cheaper homes, but nicer ammenities, closer to the city but it's not the pits like NH. Sorry, just being honest.
