Sacramento is like the "pittsburg" of california. Its just so average and, blah.
The only mildly entertaining thing to do there is to hang out on the river near old town on a hot summer day. Maybe stay at the delta king hotel. Its an old paddle wheel boat turned floating hotel! Fun to stay there.
Aside from that, sacramento is just a gas stop on the way to Tahoe as far as im concerned.

I lived in Sac for about 2 years before I had to leave. i moved from the Bay Area. it was too hot for me in the summer, I got sick of the ghetto bird shining it's light in my back yard at least once a week. I couldn't leave anything out without the tweakers stealing it and i found much of the population to be rather unfriendly giving the "WTF you lookin' at" attitude , I heard gunshots on a regular basis, and was WAY underpaid(about 60% compared to Bay Area wages.) Now, of course, i am looking into returning to school and Sac State is a very real option for me, but I would only stay as long as it took to get my degree.

I have mixed emotions. My DH is so much happier in his current job that he was in his last one. The Mediterranean climate reminds me of home but then I am so far away from home. If I had family in the area I could grow roots here but since I don't I am counting the day till I move again. I have been here only 1 year.
I definitely hate the higher taxes and fees.

I moved to Sac 2 years ago and I regret it BiG Time! I hate it in Sac.....The only thing that I like about being here is the dry heat. Other than that, I am tired of the mean people, the crazy driver's, and the high prices on everything. This place is not for me or my family, hopefully in the next year I will be moving else where and I can't wait!

Well..let me first say that the only reason I moved to Sac was because my mom lived out here and she begged me to come here, so that she could be closer to my kids. I have lived in a lot of places, most of my life I have moved a lot because I was an army brat. And even as an adult I have moved around a lot before I had my kids. I am originally from St.louis, but I have also lived in florida, Houston, tx, Atlanta, ga, and a few other places. Most of my life I have lived either in the midwest or down south and I think I am most comfortable there. West Coast living is not for me, The things that I like about Cali is the weather and all the different things to do here, but I can always come visit Cali or plan a vacation in Cali. But actually living here permanently is not for me. So that's why I am planning on leaving next year.

I agree! It is a nice place to visit but not to live unless you have family, money or are just drawn to California. I really don't like being a downer on this subject but i totally agree with the others. There isn't much to do and the attitudes of people aren't very nice. I would much rather be in SF or Tahoe or on the coast. I have lives around around the US and California just has been disappointing for me.

ok, I guess because we really enjoyed living in Sacramento it is hard to understand so many not liking it. Would we move back? No, like you we prefer the midwest and south, my shock is all those who don't like Sacramento. If you don't like Ca period I understand. Of all the places we have lived in Ca Sacramento was our favorite. I was born and raised in Los Angeles and miss some things, but overall the state isn't for us.
What I am seeing here are people who really just don't like Ca period..

"Sacramento is like the "pittsburg" of california."
What does that make Pittsburg, CA? The Erie of California?

Your right! I just don't like California, it can be a great place to visit and spend your vacation at. But for me, I just can't live here permanently and raise my kids here. Just like you said, overall the state wasn't for you, well I feel the exact same way..lol California is not for me!
