moving to Lakeport, ca in August (Kelseyville: home, high school, safe)

I need advice on Lakeport. I have a 15 yr old son who will be starting High school. He loves sports and was wondering the level they play at. Also I was wondering about security in the area. Is there a lot of crime?

The Konocti area of Lakeport has relatively high poverty and crime. Other areas are fine. It's a very pretty area.

I would love to add glowing reviews to the Lakeport posts. I was born and raised in Kelseyville and Lakeport. Aside from high school sponsored sports and clubs there really isn't much to offer. Growing up outside school functions our time was filled with hanging out with friends. So needless to say your group dictated how things were done, including drinking and the like. The town is beautiful and full of friendly wonderful people. Compared to big cities we are really a safe place to be on this side of the lake. I have walked home from work well after dark and was offered a ride by a city police officer. Good luck in your move and your future here in Lakeport.
