Default RN asking about the Folsom area

I am considering moving to the Folsom area. I am currently living in Corvallis, Or. I know that Ca is more expensive. I am curious about allergies in the area. They are very high in Corvallis (which is causing itchiness, rashes, hives, pressure/sinus issues) and I am looking to get away from allergies. I moved to Oregon from the Mid-West and never had problems with allergies or asthma until moving here. I am a critical care RN and my partner is too. I am wondering if there are any hospitals hiring? I love hiking and biking. Are there safe areas to walk at night? We will be visiting in mid-July. Are there any recommendations for us to visit while we are there (hiking, biking, restaurants, etc). I am also curious about utility bills. How much do you pay for your gas/electic/water, please include your square footage and how many people use the utilities. Is the community gay friendly? Any info that you are willing to share is appreciated! Thank you!

A good website with active blogging specifically for Folsom is www.myfolsom.com

And then for Best of Folsom - you can use this link: MyFolsom.Com's Best of Folsom 2009

Maybe less allergies in Folsom than going a bit farther into the foothills - but depends on which allergies.

Other residents will comment on utility bills. As far as lifestyle, in my business dealings I don't run into anything that would make me think there's an issue.

I have a couple clients who are registered nurses at different hospitals and have not heard about lack of work.

If worse comes to worse you could likely go to work at Folsom State Prison for awhile. Starting pay for a Registered Nurse (Safety) is $4,654 a month ($26.85/hr.) but that can likely be negoriated upwards based upon experience and the needs of the department.

Of course, the down side is who and what you would have to work with.

Sacramento is one of the worst areas in the nations for allergies and dirty air. I never had allergies until I moved here from the east coast. All my family has them. If you suffer in OR you will probably suffer here as well.
